Front-yard Baseball

The boys have grown tired of their frequent baseball practices and games...and yet when they have some free time on their hands, they head to the front yard to - that's right - play baseball.

The girls and I headed outside with them for a little while this evening, and I brought my camera. I admit that I was secretly rather excited for the opportunity to snap some pictures in the perfect "golden hour" lighting.

Caroline was happy to just sit on the tricycle for a while and then to walk around it. Elsa was dragging everything out of the garage...scooters, bikes, strollers, frisbees, you name it.

And the boys set up the pitching net (is that what you call that thing?) as their backstop. I had some fun pitching to them and then taking a turn at batting too. Luke enjoyed pitching to me for a bit, and when I told him he was a wild pitcher, he said then I should know how he feels when he faces some of the wild pitchers on the opposing teams. I was just glad that he doesn't pitch as hard as some of those wild pitchers, and I can see why he might be a little shy about standing at the plate in front of them. I'm pretty sure I would be too!

Well, the evening ended with a badly scraped leg when Cade took a dive onto the sidewalk (or something like that - I was inside at that point). But such is the life with boys. And I'm sure they'll be back out there at it again tomorrow.

I hope so anyway.
