My roots...

Last week I got to share one of my favorite childhood memories with my children.  We spent a few days in Pennsylvania, and while there, we visited the Pennsylvania State Farm Show.

We saw square-dancing tractors (I don't remember seeing that as a kid, though).

Mean mother that I am, I forced the boys to stand still for this picture with a red deer. They were scared to get any closer - look at the size of those antlers!

Cupcake liked the goats and bunnies and duckies best.

There were some interesting chickens too.  And we saw a chick hatching out of his egg - fascinating!

Dad had requested a picture of Mr. Blue-Eyes standing next to a draft horse, so we stood in front of this big fellow's stall for our photo op. He apparently didn't like the flash on the camera because he gave a great kick against the stall door as we were taking the picture.  I was feeling very thankful for sturdy latches!  I think horses are beautiful, but I'm also rather scared of them - especially ones as big as this guy!!

Another big guy in action...I could understand why the kids were so nervous around the horses!

We couldn't resist trying to get a picture of our princess in this Cinderella carriage when we stumbled upon it in an out of the way corner.
