With family in town for a birthday celebration, we have enjoyed a flurry of activity over the last few days. There were fireworks on Friday evening (in the driveway), a lot of World Cup futbol to watch on Saturday, a first-time-in-a-new-congregation church service on Sunday morning, a Nationals' baseball game on Sunday afternoon, and a trip to Luray Caverns and Reality Farm today. Whew!
I will post more about the new church business at another time, but I have a few pictures of the Nats' game and our day trip to post now. So here we go...
The Nats' game:
Not sure about the dude behind us wearing a YANKEES jersey to a game in DC
(when the Nats were playing the Cubs). ??? |
| These two had a blast together. |
| Some little Nats fans |
| A beautiful day for a game of baseball! |
| A Harper fan and a Werth fan |
| Luke and a Phillies fan (who took my advice not to wear a Phillies shirt) |
| Yeah, Elsa's head mostly got cut off in this one... :-( |
| Uncle Tim's family |

Luke and Cade enjoyed a ride home in the convertible that
Uncle Red was driving. |
And today we headed west for a tour of Luray Caverns. Beautiful! The drive itself was lovely, and the beauty inside the caverns was incredible.
After our tour of the caverns, I realized that we were quite close to the farm from which we have raw milk and fresh eggs delivered each week. So we made a phone call and arranged to stop by for a visit. We spent nearly three hours touring Reality Farm with Teri and John. They were fantastic, and we saw cows, chickens, guineas, goats, miniature cows, water buffalo, and deer. The kids had a blast traipsing through the fields after a cow and her newborn calf, being chased by goats, and petting cows. And best of all, Uncle Red even wrestled a new calf out of hiding so the kids could pet her.
| Cade was feeding branches of leaves to the goats. |
These hiefers were in the same field as the water buffalo, though the water buffalo were skittish and ran off. |
| Told you he wrestled the calf! |
| The calf was born just yesterday! |
| Feeding the baby goats. They were so cute! |
All this fun...and the birthday being celebrated isn't even until tomorrow. I don't know how much more fun we can handle!
