With Praise to God, We Announce...

...we are expecting our third child! Yes, some of you already know this, and I haven't exactly kept it hush-hush, but...now that I've reached 13 weeks, I feel a bit better about making a "public" announcement. :-) We've heard the heartbeat now, too, which is always very exciting.

The boys are excited about having a new baby in the house. Mr. Blue-Eyes says that he really wants a sister, but Boo-Boo doesn't seem to care. I'm expecting that Mr. Blue-Eyes will be a rather good helper. I'm not so sure about Boo-Boo, although we get regular reports that he is the best helper in his class at church. So we'll remain hopeful on that front. We should be in our new house for a few months before the baby arrives, and I'm hoping that we'll have everything painted, unpacked and organized before the new little one joins us.

As I sit and reflect on God's goodness to us, I am humbled by it. There are many couples, some we know, who have difficulty conceiving a child and struggle for years to have children. There are many (more than I ever imagined previously) who suffer through one or more miscarriages in trying to have a child. The Lord certainly uses these experiences in the lives of His children to strengthen their trust and faith and to draw them closer to His side. And I praise Him for the fruit in the lives of these friends that I can see as they've struggled through these hard times. But, too, I thank Him for His kindness to us in granting us two healthy boys and another - so far - healthy pregnancy. Let's praise His name!

A House!

This is our new house! We've got a contract now, and we're SO excited. After previously owning a house and having to return to renting for four years, we are thrilled to be moving into our own house again.
It has four bedrooms, a SPACIOUS kitchen and plenty of living room (plus an unfinished basement). Best of all, it's on a 1/2 acre lot which means LOTS of yard for the boys to enjoy. The neighborhood is beautiful, and it's close to the train station too. Stephen's commute will only increase by about 10 minutes.
With the house being a foreclosure, it will need a little cosmetic work before we move in...painting, some new carpet, other odd fixes. But overall, it's in great shape, and we thank the Lord for this new blessing and praise Him for His faithfulness.

A Long but Blessed Day

The alarm went off at 3:30am today, and we had to be at the hospital by 5:30am for Boo-Boo's surgery. It was a minor, outpatient procedure, and it went well. We left the hospital around 9:45am. The surgery went as scheduled, and Boo-Boo is doing really well. We're so thankful to the Lord for protecting him as he was under anesthesia - that's always scary, but moreso for moms to watch, I think! I've now seen both of my sons go under anesthesia and I've seen my husband as the anesthesia was wearing off. Let's just say, I'd rather not have to do that again.

But the Lord was good. He sustained us with not enough sleep, lovingly providing naptimes for us this afternoon. And now we have a very active little boy who is not supposed to be very active for a few days, and we're trying to hold him back! We'll see how that goes! I'm sure we'll need the Lord's grace in that as well!
