Daddy's Busy = A Trip Back Home

When Stephen is swamped at work, it's a good time to take a trip back 'home' to visit Grammie & Grandpa.  So we did that earlier this week.  We had fun playing outside there as well as getting to visit some friends we hadn't seen in a while.

They had a good time picking fists full of dandelions one morning in Grandpa's yard.  See?  Yellow hands.

I think it was even more fun scattering them again when it was time to go inside.
Then, some time to play with friends we hadn't seen for a while. Actually, Elsa was so tiny last time we saw them that she didn't remember them at all. Everyone warmed up to each other pretty quickly though, and they had a blast playing outside together.

And on the spur of the moment, we had breakfast with two girls from my high school class!  I hadn't seen them in over 15 years, but it was fun catching up.  Photo credit here goes to Luke...

After breakfast, it was time to start the trek back to Virginia. But we stopped at the Children's Lake for a break, and the kids had a great time throwing rocks into the water and watching the ducks, geese, and swans.  There was a bit of stick-fighting too.

Here's the Bucher mansion which overlooks the lake...

Once I got a decent picture, I let them do a crazy one...

And when we got home and had unloaded the car, this is what the family room looked like.  We had preceded our stop at the lake with another stop at my cousin's house where she generously loaded us up with hand-me-downs for Elsa.  I actually used to wear her hand-me-downs, and now Elsa is wearing hand-me-downs from her daughter. Sweet.
The clothes aren't in a pile on the floor anymore, though that lasted for a few days.  I've spent the last day or two sorting thru them and packing them away for the next few years.  I've also been unpacking and sorting through little-bitty girl clothes for the pumpkin who will be joining us in a matter of weeks.

Hmm. Can you say "nesting"?
