We started school earlier this year so that we could take a few weeks off throughout the year and still finish by Memorial Day.
So we've already completed our first four weeks. It's gone quite well with Mr. Blue-Eyes doing second grade and Boo-Boo doing some kindergarten work this year.
Even though he's still just four and a half, Boo-Boo seems to be ready and wanting to do school too. So my goal for him this year is to have him reading by the end of the school year. Everything else will be gravy. He loves his K math book and is blasting through it. Phonics and handwriting are going well for him too, and he's nearly always excited for school-time.
We are studying astronomy this year for our science, and we've made a solar system model out of balloons and done a few other experiments as well. Yesterday we melted chocolate bars using a magnifying glass. What fun!! We actually had the chocolate smoking! Check it out...
Boo-Boo was dying to eat the chocolate, but Mommy was smart enough to use the old bittersweet baking chocolate that has been sitting in the pantry for ages instead of the good stuff. So no mid-afternoon snack of chocolate...
