Or "woman's plans," I should say.
'Tis that time of year again -
the time for planning our next school year.
Perhaps other homeschooling mothers choose their curriculum with ease, but I am not one of them. I literally agonize over the catalogs and websites trying to determine what will best suit the learning style of my children and my own teaching preferences, give the kids a solid academic foundation on which to build, and foster their love of learning. All of this is secondary, of course, to incorporating a Biblical worldview into their learning.
As much as I want to select a pre-packaged curriculum and leave it at that, I'm not sure I'd be content with it if I couldn't compare and contrast with every other curriculum I could find. An occupational hazard, I suppose.
That said, I'm thankful for the assurance of Proverbs 19:21 which tells us, "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails." How thankful I am that no matter how good - or bad! - my well-laid plans may be, the LORD will work out His purpose in our family, including the education of our children.
